For one weekend only, Raven Row reflects on the radical context of Gallery House’s inaugural exhibition, 3 Life Situations (March – April 1972), with durational works by the three original artists – Stuart Brisley, Marc Camille Chaimowicz and Gustav Metzger.

Each of the artists in 3 Life Situations produced groundbreaking work that had a lasting effect on their careers. It was an early solo performance of Brisley’s, and one of three he produced at Gallery House; for Chaimowicz, it was the beginning of a series of immersive, multi-sensory environments that draw on contemporary popular culture; for Metzger, it was a forceful introduction to the ecological and systems-based works he has been pursuing to this day.
